The Russians have been using a type of urine therapy for years to cure many of the so-called hospital superbugs such as MRSA. I think its a type of phage therapy:

Basically, they realised that some patients contracted illnesses like MRSA in hospital whilst others had immunity - therefore, their bodies must contain something which destroys the bugs, some of which would be excreted in their urine. The sluice water was tested and also found to be clear of the bugs, so something seemed to be happening.
They drew 'liquid' out of the hospital sewer/sluice, cleaned it up (obviously - ewww!) and then diluted it (much like homeopaths do with their medicines). They then gave this to infected patients to drink over a number of days and many recovered.
Unfortunately, this treatment is so cheap that the pharmaceutical/biomedical industry isn't interested in running full clinical trials, and the Russians can't afford to, so people are still suffering and dying possibly needlessly.
